Callaway Supersoft Golf Ball Review

Since it’s arrival a few years ago, the Callaway Supersoft Golf Ball has been a popular model for many golfers. The low compression core will help golfers with below average swing speeds achieve more distance.

For those who are interested and want to learn more, here is a Callaway Supersoft Golf Ball Review.Callaway Supersoft Golf Ball Review

Callaway Golf has just released a new 2017 model of the Supersoft Golf Ball.

Now Golf balls will always be golf balls, but remember that companies do actually spend a lot of money on testing to help achieve a golf ball that is ideal for a specifically targeted golfer.

There may seem like few changes to the 2017 model, but why would you mess with a design of golf ball that has already worked really well?

Features

Low Compression Core

The Callaway Supersoft golf ball is a two-piece golf ball with a low compression core. This basically means that the ball will compress more at impact, and help generate more distance for a below average swing speed. This helps reduce spin, which is ideal for both sidespin and backspin. It means your bad shots, won’t be as severe compared to some other model golf balls.

Hexagonal Dimple Pattern

This dimple pattern has been unique to Callaway Golf for some time. The new 2017 model golf ball has improved HEX Aerodynamics, which based on testing will improve drag. This means that the wind will not have a greater effect on the overall golf ball performance. (You might sneak in a few extra yards).

Softer Cover

The cover has been made softer with a design called Tri-ionomer. It is just a new and improved version of the traditional ionomer cover used in golf balls. If you used the previous version ball you will notice some enhanced feel around the greens.

The golf ball will also be available by the dozen in white, yellow and pink. There is also the multicoloured twelve pack which features blue, yellow, orange and white. The coloured balls can provide a better visual, but most golfers still prefer a white golf ball.

Targeted at which Golfer?

The Callaway Supersoft golf ball is targeted at the golfer who needs that little bit of extra distance off the tee. If you struggle a little bit with generating a faster clubhead speed, then these balls will compress more at impact and give you some optimum distance.

The feel around the greens for chipping and putting is another reason why this ball has sold well in the past, and the general feedback I have had from customers is that it is a great value for money ball.

This ball is also ideal for beginners, simply because you have not developed the ideal technique to achieve maximum clubhead speed yet. This ball will help you with distance and also provide a great feel for your short game.

Conclusion

So basically this new model is a little bit softer and has an improved dimple pattern. The main benefits are more enhanced feel around the greens. Your mis-hits will also be less severe than the previous model.

Don’t get carried away though, golf ball improvements are generally only subtle. If you hit the ball with an open face, it will still end up in somebody’s backyard, or gathering on the odd occasion 🙂

Golf balls will always be marketed well, but at the end of the day, the aim of golf is to get the ball in the hole in as few strokes. There are many balls to choose from, and if you are after a decent model, the Callaway Supersoft 17 golf ball might be the one to go.

Chris, I enjoyed you review of this golf ball. I play, though not that well, and if there is a little advantage to be gained here, that would be nice.

You page is well designed and easy to read. You are very informative and even the beginning golfer will easily understand what you are trying to say.

Your media is exceptional from my perspective. It adds much to your site and to your message.

    Hello

Interesting facts about this new golf ball, would this golf ball be a good choice for someone just learning to golf for the first time?

Do you have any recommendations for where to buy good quality golf clubs for a beginner, also for someone who is left handed?

Are there any tips you can share for a beginner wishing to try golfing for the first time, is there better brands for beginners to start out with?

    Hello

I am amazed how many different golf balls there are for golfers to consider, it kind of sounds like cheating to use a specific golf ball to improve your weakness in the game.

What would a pro golfer use in the way of golf balls to practice for tournaments, I am sure they use the same ball which is used in the tournaments and which ball might that be?

      Hi

      Thanks for your comments.

There are lots of golf balls to choose from, but at the end of the day it is only a very small part in terms of improving with golf. Lots of practice and learning how to hit the golf ball consistently is the best way to improve. The Callaway Supersoft Golf Ball is a great option for beginners, because it is a low compression ball, and will help with distance, which is great for a beginner.

Yes, professional golfers will use the same ball in their practice rounds. The golf ball for a professional is very important for the all important shots inside 100 yards, where spin and feel really play a huge part in lowering scores.

      Cheers

Great information. I know exactly which ball to get and why. This information is very easy to understand for us beginners. Is the price worth investing since I would be one who would actually lose many of these or should I just start a step lower?
    Thanks for your advise,

I have always liked Callaway. They seem to have some really nice products.

This review was very helpful. I used to golf quite a bit, but now I only go but a couple times a year so I might as well be at the beginner level.

Anyways, this ball may be what I need to help improve my game. I’ll have to look into it. Thanks again for the review!
