Garmin G8 Features

Lighter and Slimmer

The Garmin Approach Golf GPS is light and very slim for ease of use.

This model has also been made incredibly tough and durable for all those golf outings.

It also features a 3-inch colour touch display which makes it very easy to see the specific yardages on the golf course.

Target and Hazard Yardages

Get both precise distances to the pin and also the surrounding hazards of a specific golf course with the Garmin G8 GPS.

A new feature of this model is the PlaysLike Distance feature. This very innovative feature takes playing uphill or downhill lies into consideration and gives a golfer an adjusted more accurate distance reading. This really helps with club selection and takes the guess work out when choosing a golf club.

One of the primary functions of the G8 is to provide accurate distance measurements to various targets on the golf course. Golfers can view distances to the front, back, and middle of the green, as well as to hazards, layup points, and custom points they can set themselves.

Long Battery Life

The G8 has a long battery life that can last multiple rounds of golf, ensuring it can keep up with extended playing sessions without needing frequent recharging.

The rechargeable lithium battery will last for up to 15 hours. This is handy if a golfer has a busy weekend of golf lined up and no time to put the device on charge.

Club Advice

Club Advice is a fantastic feature on the Garmin Approach Golf GPS, which remembers exactly how far you hit each club and makes an estimation based on distance as to which club a golfer should perhaps use.

The G8 can provide club recommendations based on the user’s average hitting distances. It takes into account the current distance to the target and suggests an appropriate club for the shot.

Wifi Course Updates

Golf courses can be updated automatically using Wifi and the Smart Notification feature allows you to receive emails, texts, and alerts. This can be switched off on the Garmin G8 if you don’t like to be bothered during your round of golf.

Scorecard Options and Stats

Scoring options are available on this device for Stroke, Stableford, Skins, and Matchplay.

If you are the type of golfer that likes to track the stats, then Putts, Greens and Fairways hit can all be tracked. The handheld golf gps can then be connected to the Garmin Connect App and comparisons can be made from round to round.

The G8 allows golfers to keep score directly on the device. It can track essential statistics such as fairways hit, greens in regulation, and putts per round, helping golfers analyze their game and identify areas for improvement.

Garmin Touch Targeting

Touch-targeting can be used to pick an exact spot to land the golf ball. The Golf GPS will give a precise distance to that spot. This is particularly handy when trying to carry a bunker or a lake, or trying to cut a dogleg.

Garmin Green View

Golfers can zero in on the pin with Greenview. Drag the flag to position it where you see it and get a more precise distance to the pin.

The Green View feature allows golfers to get a more detailed look at the shape and layout of the green. They can manually adjust the pin position on the touchscreen to get accurate distances to specific pin locations, helping with club selection and shot planning.

Garmin Connect

Stay connected and download all the stats from your round straight to the Garmin Connect App. This is very handy to compare rounds and also keep a track of how you are performing.

Conclusion

The Garmin Approach G8 is a fantastic option for golfers who like precise distances to both the golf green, and also all those unwanted hazards on a golf course.

With a range of different features, it can make a golfers time out on a course a lot easier and is definitely worth investing in.

The Garmin G8 Golf GPS is certainly one of the best golf GPS devices on the market. You can program the GPS with the exact yardages that you hit each golf club and it will recommend what club to hit based on how far out from the pin a golfer is.

This device does have a pin point feature so a golfer can choose the exact area the pin is for a specific day for more precise yardages.
